Missed Call from 2013

“’Missed call from 2013’ refers to the vermouth/rye/amaro/sherry coming to reign. In the 13s, the joke goes, ‘Why is this cocktail called Missed Call?’ ‘Because 2013 called and they want their ingredients back!’”

1.75 oz (52.5 ml) Michter’s US 1 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

.75 oz (22.5 ml) Carpano Antica Formula

.25 oz (7.5 ml) Amaro Lucano

.25 oz (7.5 ml) Don Zoilo Manzanilla Sherry

.25 oz (7.5 ml) Eli Mason Demerarra Syrup

.5 oz (15 ml) Eli Mason Gomme Syrup

.75 oz (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice

1 egg white

Highland Park 12-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, as rinse

1 dash Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters, as garnish

1 dash Bitter Truth’s Jerry Thomas Own Decanter Bitters, as garnish

Dry-shake, then add ice and shake again. Rinse a chilled Nick & Nora glass with the scotch and strain the cocktail. Add the bitters, swirling on top.
