“I went with flavors that complement apples—Lucano tastes like cherries to me, so you have apples, cherries, and walnuts. Michter’s is there to fortify (due to its higher proof) and to add spice. The name comes from the fact that apples, cherries, and walnuts are all tree products.”

1 oz (30 ml) Laird’s Applejack

.5 oz (15 ml) Michter’s US 1 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey

.5 oz (15 ml) Amaro Lucano

1 oz (30 ml) honey syrup (1:1)

.75 oz (22.5 ml) fresh lemon juice

1 egg white

2 dashes Fee Brothers Black Walnut Bitters

Dry-shake, then add ice and shake again. Fine-strain into a chilled lowball glass.
