In My Glass: Sipsmith Gin
Thursday, July 31st, 2014
I’m currently making my Negronis with Sipsmith Gin.
Is this because I got a free bottle? Well, I can’t deny that that does factor into the equation.
Perhaps I’m favoring Sipsmith Gin because the Master Distiller, Jared Brown, is a dear friend of mine? I can’t deny that Jared’s a very dear friend who I’ve known for a good long time. But I don’t let him pick my gin for me.
Is is possible, then, that I’m pouring Sipsmith Gin into my Negronis, my G&Ts, and my Aviations because it’ a damned fine product? Damn right it is. Bet your bottom dollar on it.
Have you tried Sipsmith? What’s your opinion? I’d love to hear from you.

In My Glass: Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014
I picked up a 4-pack of Fentimans Dandelion and Burdock last week. Never heard of Dandelion and Burdock? It’s a fabulous flavor of soda-pop that takes me right back to being a kid again. That’s a pretty long way to travel for one bottle of pop . . .
It’s tough to describe the flavor of Dandelion and Burdock, but here’s what Fentimans has to say about their great product
Full-strength infusions of Dandelion leaves and Burdock root, sweetened with pear juice and spiced with a touch of ginger and anise, all intermingle to create the unmistakable aroma and distinctive palate of this traditional English soda. |
I sort of think of it as a style of Root Beer without the wintergreen . . .
Fentimans might not know this, but their Dandelion and Burdock fares very well with gin, and a lemon wedge, squeezed into the glass, and dropped into the drink. Could be my new Summer Sipper.
